Ball screw transmission is widely used in CNC lathes due to its advantages such as high transmission efficiency, high transmission accuracy, smooth motion, long service life, and the ability to eliminate backlash through preloading. Its routine maintenance includes the following aspects: ① Regularly check the axial clearance of the ball screw nut pair: Generally, the control system can automatically compensate to eliminate the clearance; when the clearance is excessive, it can be adjusted by modifying the ball screw nut pair. Most CNC lathe ball screw nut pairs adopt a double nut structure, which can eliminate clearance through double nut preloading.

② Regularly inspect the lead screw protective cover to prevent dust and abrasive particles from adhering to the lead screw surface, which can affect its service life and precision. If the lead screw protective cover is damaged, repair or replace it promptly.  ③ Periodically check the lubrication of the ball screw nut pair. The lubricant for the ball screw nut pair can be categorized into grease and oil. Grease should be replaced every six months by cleaning the old grease from the lead screw and applying new grease. For ball screw nut pairs using oil, add lubricant once before each machine operation.

④ Regularly inspect the support bearings: Periodically check whether the connection between the screw support bearings and the machine tool is loose, as well as whether the support bearings are damaged. If any issues are found, promptly tighten the loose parts and replace the damaged support bearings.

⑤ Regularly inspect the connection between the servo motor and the ball screw: The connection between the servo motor and the ball screw must be ensured to be gap-free.
