Having spent over a decade in the machining industry, who hasn’t stumbled over a machine tool? The old equipment in our workshop used to make people nervous during operation: mid-process, the spindle would inexplicably overheat, precision would drift by several microns; tool changes would jam, delaying half an hour and nearly causing a delivery deadline breach; working 24 hours straight, the machine would suddenly alarm and shut down late at night, leaving even the seasoned master sweating around it, unable to pinpoint the issue.
Last year, during the workshop's production expansion, we decided to give it a try by purchasing two SMTCL HTC40Q horizontal CNC lathes. After operating them for over half a year, the entire workshop's production pace underwent a dramatic transformation. With a high-speed spindle of 4,500 rpm paired with rapid feed at 30 m/min, previously one-day tasks for shaft parts could now be completed in just half a day, accelerating subsequent grinding processes accordingly. The most reassuring feature was its thermal balance design. Even in the workshop's scorching summer temperatures of over 30°C, after running continuously for 12 hours, the positioning accuracy remained consistently stable at the micrometer level, eliminating the need for mid-cycle shutdowns to cool the equipment.
Previously, when we handled automotive parts orders, the client required that the tolerance for mass-produced parts must be controlled within 0.01mm. With the old equipment, 3 out of every 10 pieces had to be sent back for rework after quality inspection. Now, using SMTCL's machine tools, the 12-station servo turret changes tools accurately and quickly, achieving a first-time pass rate of over 99% for the parts produced, reducing the workload at the quality inspection station by more than half. The outdated equipment in the workshop is being gradually replaced—not because we favor novelty over tradition, but because those in manufacturing understand: a stable, high-efficiency machine tool is the factory's most reliable "long-term partner.".
